A Tampa crossing guard in hillsborough county is being called a hero after an incident that happened last week. HCSO Crossing Guard Supervisor Kathleen Quinn saved a girl from being struck by a reckless driver. The careless driver refused to stop or slow down even though the crossing guard had her sign raised above her head and children were crossing. The vehicle didn’t slow down approaching the intersection, and Ms Kathleen Quinn put herself between the car and the child crossing the road.
Crossing guards are to be treated exactly as a stop sign it red light. It isn’t an option to stop or not stop, and if caught by a law enforcement officer, would result in a citation or worse.
