Car accidents can happen at any time and at any place

Perhaps one of the most difficult lessons to learn about a car accident in Tampa is that it can happen at any time and at any place. That was the lesson that was brought home recently to area resident James Wolfe, who received a late-night call in early March that gripped him with panic.

Wolfe, the father of two young boys, answered the phone call not long after midnight on March 10, 2014, and heard his wife’s panicked voice on the other end. After taking a quick run to a local Wal-Mart, Wolfe’s wife, Jennifer, had veered off the road and into a retention pond after being cut off by another driver and swerving to avoid a collision. She phoned her husband for help as her minivan filled with water and she found herself unable to open the door to escape.

Despite a call to 911, emergency responders were unable to pinpoint the location of Wolfe’s wife until about an hour after Jennifer Wolfe placed the initial call for help. After police recovered her body, Jennifer Wolfe was taken to Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, where she was pronounced dead. Wolfe said his wife was a dedicated mother and was enrolled in a nursing program where she was excelling.
